Staring into the darkness
How do you move forward when you’re stuck?
I’ve wrestled with this situation more times than I want to admit. It’s in these types of situations where paralysis sets in. In this state of disbelief my reaction is often frustration. It leaves me with the question, “how did I get here again?”
But really what is next? The natural response is to feel sorry for myself and the ever increasing urge to just give up. It’s a lonely feeling because ultimately the burden lies on my shoulders. It’s heavy and makes me quiver as I try to move forward.
In these moments we find ourselves staring into the darkness. It feels shapeless and endless. We’re searching for that tiny light. It’s that small flicker that eludes us. Even though we can’t see it, that spark is out there. The only requirement to finding it is to never stop seeking it.
Hope is funny that way isn’t it? It wants to be pursued. When we chase it we start seeing glimpses. The brief encounters begin to grow. I’m thankful for my faith in God because it has helped me navigate these situations.
You’re not alone. Every day countless of us find ourselves in this same dark place. I stretch out my hand and say, “you got this”. Sometimes it’s that helping hand that reveals the light.
Let’s all try to be that flicker of hope that can help someone find their way out of the tunnel back into the light.
