AMAZED BY GOD
Rediscovering wonder and awe in His glory, creation, His power, and in worship
In a world that often dulls our senses and distracts our hearts, this study invites you to rediscover the wonder and awe that comes from truly encountering God. From the splendour of His character, the majesty of creation to the power of His works, and the reverence of worship. We’ll explore how Scripture calls us to see the living God and be amazed by Him.
Whether you’re seeking fresh spiritual inspiration or a deeper encounter with God’s presence, this journey will open your eyes, stir your heart, and renew your amazement at who He is.
GOD HIMSELF
Standing in reverent awe of God’s nature, His holiness, majesty, power, and mystery.
Isaiah 6:1–3
In the year that King Uzziah died, Isaiah saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him stood the seraphim, each with six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. One called to another and said, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”
Exodus 15:11
Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?
Revelation 4:8
These creatures, each with six wings and full of eyes all around and within, continually declare, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
Psalm 145:3
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
Job 26:14
Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?
Romans 11:33
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
In what ways might you be underestimating God’s greatness in your day-to-day life?
How can you create space in your routine to pause and stand in awe of who God is?
GOD’S CREATION
Inspiring wonder through the beauty, scale, and majesty of the created world.
Genesis 1:31
And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.
Job 38:4–7
Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Psalm 104:24–25
O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
Psalm 19:1
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
Romans 1:20
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Isaiah 40:26
Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name, because of the greatness of his might and because of his strength not one is missing.
Psalm 8:3–4
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?
When was the last time creation took your breath away? What did that moment reveal about God?
What might God be saying to you through the beauty or vastness of the natural world?
GOD’S WORKS AND POWER
Experiencing awe through what God does: miracles, signs, wonders, and acts of deliverance.
Luke 5:26
And amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, ‘We have seen extraordinary things today.’

Israel saw the great power that the LORD used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses.
Acts 2:43
And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.
Mark 4:41
And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, ‘Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?’
Daniel 4:3
How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation.
Joshua 4:23-24
For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we passed over, so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.
John 2:11
This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

Have you experienced a moment in your own life where God’s power or provision left you amazed?
WORSHIP
Amazement doesn’t end in observation. Amazement leads us to bow, to sing, to surrender. True worship is awe in action.
Psalm 33:8
Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
Psalm 95:6
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
Revelation 15:4
Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.
Psalm 5:7
But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.
Habakkuk 3:2
For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.
Psalm 86:8–10
There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.
Hebrews 12:28–29
Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.
How might awe and reverence reshape your view of God and your relationship with Him?
When you are in awe of God, does worship come naturally?
FINAL REFLECTION
As you read Psalm 145, consider it not only as David’s song, but as your own response to this journey. Let it become a personal declaration of awe and praise.
Psalm 145
A Song of Praise. Of David.
1 I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
2 Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.
3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and his greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
8 The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 The Lord is good to all,
and his mercy is over all that he has made.
10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,
and all your saints shall bless you!
11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom
and tell of your power,
12 to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds,
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures throughout all generations.
The Lord is faithful in all his words
and kind in all his works.
14 The Lord upholds all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food in due season.
16 You open your hand;
you satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and kind in all his works.
18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.
20 The Lord preserves all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.
Are you amazed by the things of this world more than you are by God?
Have you become too familiar with God to be amazed by Him?
What part of God’s greatness have you overlooked because you’ve been focused on your problems?
In what area of your life do you most need to see God again with fresh eyes? As Creator, as King, as Deliverer, or as the One worthy of worship?
